I find it so amazing that I just see the top inch of your photo on the screen as I scroll down and I think ah, there is Jerome and I am excited to see what you have next. A beautiful description of a fearsome yet beautiful scene.
@chillen Thanks, Chillen, for your nice comment! Maybe your question was ironic. But it is actually a nice idea for me to live for a while on a mountain. My job is very demanding and no more than short day trips are possible. I live in Linz, a city on the Danube. On foehny days I can see from my window the snow-capped mountains at very far distance. Then my longing for them is great.
Yes, the mountains have majesty, dignity, beauty. It can be exhausting to reach a summit. But you see, learn, experience so much. The mountain you feel and understand, gives you a lot. And it's great when you reach the summit. When just the sky and the clouds are above you. When you have an unobstructed view of the expanse of the landscape. Then I'm fine.
Poetry... We need poetry. It makes us human beings.

Best wishes to Australia! I like to remember the days in this wonderful and strong country.
