Only a few meters to the summit cross. You see the glacier extending far backwards - on it I reached the rock. I am at almost 3000 meters above sea level. The view is free on the surrounding mountains.
Outstanding as usual. Better than just a straight landscape for the inclusion of the chain of your fellow climbers which tells a story unto itself, while providing a scale for the photo. Wonderful.
@hrb73 Yes, the summit is really present when the experience of ascension has preceded.Feeling the rock and the essence of the mountain, enjoying the views that the mountain gives you - all these impressions and perceptions during the ascent condense at the summit.
@elkereturns Yes, that is a not so rarely underestimated fact. It's about the necessary power reserves and the time until dawn. It happens again and again that mountaineers misjudge and get into trouble.
@casablanca Ja, es lohnt sich wirklich. Wenn man es einmal erlebt hat, dann möchte man immer wieder auf einen Gipfel. Die Sehnsucht kann sehr groß werden.
@blueberry1222 It was very warm that day. But I had a jacket with long sleeves - so that the arms are better protected (the rocks are partly sharp-edged) and also as protection against UV radiation. I prefer to sweat a bit, if I preserve my health better.
So here is the last missing piece of the journey for me. It must be such an exhilarating feeling when you reach this point and maximum effort is behind. Thank you for sharing this journey with us with your stunning illustrations of your favourite mountain.
@helenhall Yes, it is a special feeling to have climbed a peak and to be so close to the clouds. The longing for the mountains can be very big.
Thank you for your nice accompaniment to the summit!
@kjarn Thank you, Kathy, for your nice company!
If you have prepared well, you will not feel exhausted at the summit - it's just beautiful... I'm fine then.
I would also like to enjoy a nice place at sea again... :)
