Her tiny body, unable to fly or eat, only to give birth, finally succumbed on the 5th, longer than I had anticipated.
You can see from the folds and hollows how empty she now is after laying the 100+ eggs which had distended her abdomen.
I have felt somewhat voyeuristic photographically recording her brief life but excused myself by remembering that I am unlikely to see this life cycle again, and indeed many who have been keen lepidopterists far longer than I have never seen this either.
