A empty shell

But of what? Is the shell of a Brimstone caterpillar's egg, or an Odd egg? I've found several of these outside on the Alder Buckthorn but not a corresponding number of Brimstone larvae. I'll probably never know unless I'm lucky enough to see a hatching.
