What a surprise by jesika2

What a surprise

We decided to take our second walkies on Walmgate Stray, York, this afternoon and on our way back home I saw something I have never seen in the 47 (ouch!) years my dogs have walked me there.
This is a handsome, straight out of the box, male Marbled White. Last summer I saw 2 females near the river - again a huge surprise and the first I had ever seen in that area.
Dare I hope for more...?

@koalagardens it would be so wonderful if they became established there. There’s a wood meadow 7 miles away which in 2012 was a barley field. A newly emerged female Marbled White has just been found there and in a village again about 7 miles away, they’ve been seen. Fingers crossed for something positive

@susie1205 July is MW time, they only have one brood so it’s great to see them in unexpected sites.
