This tiny wood is part of a recreation area near Millennium Bridge in York. In years gone by it was the council's land fill site. Looks as if it's heading that way again...
I can't understand how/why a full something can be easily carried but when empty it has to be dumped. Neither can I understand why someone would take a disposable BBQ into the wood.

My wife volunteers with a friend to pick up trash (once or twice a month) along a section of divided highway nearby. When she returns, the usual message is “people are pigs.” Indeed. I appreciate the post and message!
How sad the way that some people behave. I've often thought that as I approach a built up area on one of my walks, that the first signs of 'civilisation' are cigarette ends, dog mess and all kinds of other rubbish. If only people could see the beauty around them, rather than seeing somewhere to dump their rubbish!
@rhoing@fishers@bkbinthecity was speaking to Nicola from St Nicks this morning. She’s got to organise a team of picker uppers, to clear away this and other mess in the woods and on the field. I wonder if other countries treat THEIR open spaces and streets as disrespectfully as some English seem to.
