Quick walk to the post office this morning while my kiddos were in Inupiaq class. The light on the steps cast long shadows in the new snow. We got about a foot today!
@mbemis@helly31@whysu@ukandie1@thistle@sitiodown@dardarbinx@cruiser@deu49097@wiesnerbeth Thank you all for your comments! Inupiaq is the language these Eskimos speak, but the kids are not really bilingual and take classes every day to keep them in touch with their culture. The rest of the classes are taught in English. I teach 4th & 5th graders this year. I walk everywhere around the (tiny) village which has only 250 people. We drive our 4-wheeler or snow-go out to the air strip or down to the river. No paved roads and nowhere to go. We are in the "bush" meaning there are no roads from our village to anywhere else. You could only get here by plane. We are very land-locked. It costs a great deal to get from here to anywhere else!
