The lifeguards at geothermal lagoons have to contend with constant mist when the very warm water meets the very cold air, making it difficult to see more than a few feet in front of them. Nonetheless, the mist and the sun made for a cool lifeguard photo at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland.
@robz Yes - we actually drove past the evacuated town on our way to the Blue Lagoon, and were able to drive on a new section of road built over the lava that had blocked the road last week. The lava rock was still steaming, and the new road section was steaming too! They have to make sure no cars stop on that part because their tires would melt! A little unnerving to be in that area, but clearly the Blue Lagoon is doing their best to stay in business through all this. It was very sad to see the empty evacuated town and wonder how all the people are doing after being uprooted from their homes, school, businesses and community.
