Lesson 2

Had my second lesson in natural light photography. This is about the language of light. Our assignment was to take a mid tone object and photograph it at the window, 5 feet and 10 feet. We are to notice diffused value, shadow, and Specular highlights. The second ring in the 2nd and 3rd photo come from a second window.
What a dramatic different between settings!

I think that understanding the inverse square law of light fall off was one of the more tricky things to get my head round.. This triptych illustrates it perfectly - well done Joan, I hope that you're enjoying your course.

Such a cool way to show the effect of lighting -- it's pretty dramatic at these three distances from the window.
