Caught

This was one of the guys in the group playing at the beach Saturday night. They were good but the song Wooly Bully is now stuck in my head. There glitter jackets made it hard for me to capture. This ones works because I underexposed it (made the exposure comp thingy -5). Now I would love to say I did this because I am brilliant but I really this is the adjustment for the ferris wheel and I forgot to undo it. But hey it worked and I learned a little lesson. By the way in a second he pointed his finger at me and when I lowered the camera he laughed. Forgot my camera at home so thank goodness I had one to post.
Cute story Joan, made me laugh!

Like that swoosh of lights above! Great expressive capture Joan!

Happy accident! So funny to see this guy in his sparkly jacket, imagine the concert, and know you have the song stuck in your head!

Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs.

Get ya someone really, and do the wooly bull, wooly bully, wooly bully.
August 19th, 2014
Damn, now it's stuck in my head.
August 19th, 2014
Great shot, he looks a little scary.
August 19th, 2014
@jaboney It's one of those songs.

@jan20 Exactly why I I put my camera down. But his laugh was so reassuring,

That is one of the traps of using Manual mode on the camera. I have messed up plenty of shots by forgetting to change the setting. At least some shots are recoverable in camera RAW :)

@karlow75 I was using Aperture priority but set that +/- thing to -5 because I was shooting a long exposure and trying to keep it from over exposing. I couldn't then figure out what was wrong with this one. Then the light went off. But yes RAW is the only way to go.

Great shot Joan - I love the look you have captured
August 19th, 2014
@joansmor that's my favourite setting at the moment, and I did the same thing with the exposure comp. It took me a while to figure out what I had done Nd how to fix it. It was a good learning curve though.

love the combination of curiosity and menace on his face; was glad to hear the story ended in laughs.

Really colorful capture, love the lights.

Nice capture Joan. You have caught the atmosphere very well.

Cool shot Joan! Sounds fun..but thanks! Now Wooly Bully is going round in MY head. hahahah!
August 19th, 2014
Great indoor shot. Underexposing in this kind of photos also works for me. It gives me and extra shutter speed, helping me to freeze the singers

Great capture

Nice capture
August 19th, 2014
... now I am singing wooly bully!!! whahaha! Super capture!
August 19th, 2014
Hi Joan :p So sorry I did not challenge you. So my challenge this week capture something in color that fills the frame. Have fun.
August 19th, 2014
I didn't think they would be still playing that song.
August 19th, 2014
Love that expression - nicely captured!

Joan, this is really excellent work... a very competent stage shot. Normally learning follows a failure - nice that in your case you learned as the result of a success. Way to go Lady.
August 20th, 2014
@janiskay They were doing all the sixties songs. It was fun.
August 20th, 2014
Joan, I've come back to this to give it a Fav. As I've already said, it's a very competent shot but what I like best about it is that it didn't fall into your lap (like a sunset!) - you set out to make this image and you did.
August 20th, 2014
@vignouse I knew you'd get even with some comment on sunsets. LOL But thank you. This is an example of not tossing a photo until you pull a couple of sliders in Camera Raw. And you would say that is why we shoot in RAW.
August 20th, 2014
@joansmor It is why we shoot in raw: you're only revealing what the sensor already captured and recorded - it was in the scene, so why not in your final image as well. I will comment online on your sunset pics but I'm waiting for an answer to my answer to your mail first!
