Thursday when I was out at Portland Headlight with my guest, I took a bracket set of pictures of the Portland Horizon. Then today I tried again the Layered HDR Tone Mapping tutorial I found on line. Happier with this then my other attempts. Then I applied some of my actions to it. What a truly beautiful day it was. Took some of the lighthouse but happiest with this one. Maybe I'll post the lighthouse later. (just realize I am saying Portland when I should say South Portland - thought I'd clarify before I got caught.)
I wouldn't have twigged this as HDR Joan, but there is detail in the shadows and the highlights so you've extended the dynamic range without going over the top, which, after all, is the whole point of HDR when it's done as it should be.
:) I am not sure what all that means in your description, but this is a great photo! I love the layers from the clouds to the rocks. And the little wave rolling in at the end of the rocks is just one of the nice details. Bravo!
@vignouse I like this technique and will keep working at it. Think the better the neutral of the three is the better the end result. But thanks for your comment.
