I loved the content of this picture even as I hated how badly I had caught it. I have played with it for days and have decided the only way I will stop is to post. I have worked most of the weekend and am tired so I am posting this for my happy. Like it, hate it. But this is my happy for tonight. So I will totally be okay if you wait for a better picture to comment. Meanwhile thank you for all your help with my selfie. I am going with the bw but my mentor is helping me with the processing. Please I don't mean to sound grumpy.
Sometimes we need to remember that photography as we practice it here on 365 is mostly art. Art for me is about representation rather than reproduction: it is about capturing the emotion in a moment in such a way that the viewer of our image relives that emotion for him/herself. It is so easy to become seduced by the technicalities of our craft that our initial purpose in taking a photograph becomes sublimated to the quest for technical perfection.
This is a perfectly nice image of a bird in your garden, at your feeder, eating the food you provided and he won't go hungry today because of you. It's all there... and I think that's wonderful!
It's a good capture! Birds are hard and we do't always get the money shots. But this is good. Not sure about the inner frame but that's just me. Fav for the happy bird!
@vignouse What Richard said! Really, this tells a story and the bird seems to be reaching out to you -- to share? say thanks? Definitely a story in here. Potentially a 6 word story?
I've come to terms with the idea that I may not produce a masterpiece every single day. This might be harder for you, as you really do post a lot of really brililant shots. This is a good image of a happy birdy who is pleased with his treasure. I'm glad you posted it!
I think one's mind's eye sometimes does one a disservice! This is a great picture. Imagine seeing it on someone's feed. It's only in comparison to what you imagine sometimes.
I feel your frustration but you seem to have set the bar high for yourself. Your skills is amazing and you shouldn't put so much pressure on yourself, this is a hobby, relax and enjoy it. I agree with Richard, he writes more eloquently than me.
I'm happy with your happy! It's the only bird I will see today and that's good enough for me! It's a great capture, amazing timing and it's what nature is all about.
