I went to the Victorian Mansion in Portland with my niece, two of her daughters, and her oldest granddaughter. It is decked out for the holiday's and just spectacular. You can not use tripods or flash (and so why is this photo so sharp -opps my bad I kept forgetting to hold the on camera flash down - have trouble setting it to stay off) Yep it happened twice and it was totally an accident. But having made the mistake I am going to use the result. I had to get the ISO so high to capture most of the pictures I am not happy and my mentor @vignouse will pick on me for shutter speed. Richard I new they were slow but honestly the light is awful and I just had to try. This place is worth a visit any time it is open and you will see more from this day in coming posts. We also stopped at Len Libby's and I got some peach blossoms, chicken bones, ribbon candy, and champagne truffles. My Christmas is made. Can I over you some chicken bones. YUM
Oh and the theme this Christmas was One Hundred Years Past for the Edwardian era a nod to Downton Abbey. (I need to find this on Netflix)
It's very pretty Joan even though the on-camera flash doesn't show it at its best. As for the rest - you were the one there on the day and therefore best placed to make shooting decisions.
I adjusted the wb to be more white but I like the yellow look it had in real life because of the lighting. That may have been a mistake. Oh well, what I really wish is I hadn't gone with family. They hurried through and I didn't get to take the time I need to figure out the lighting and the composition. Next time just me. But the family was fun to be with.
So awesome! When I was in Portland last winter this is one of the places I really wanted to visit but it was closed :( I love all the shapes, textures, and colors here.
I'm so sorry I'm late. I've been caught up working afterhours for a project the last few days and today I got a call at 5am for it. Once I get to work (and get coffee!) I'll properly browse your page and find you a challenge.
I'm back! I browsed your pictures and found some really great images! So for get-pushed this week I'd like you to try Slow-Sync Flash. Here's a link on it below: http://digital-photography-school.com/slow-sync-flash/
You can get some really cool images if you can figure out how to do it right. Let me know if this is an issue. It tried it once before but it's definitely something I need to play with more too. :)
