My challenge is white on white. I saw that @jocasta had the same challenge. And I was blown away by her attempt. So she is pushing me to try something. Not as happy as I would like to be but I need to stop playing with it and do some house keeping and make my haddock chowder for supper.
@skskunky It refers to a picture with very low tonal contrast. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-key_lighting. If you like trying different techniques there are a lot of tutorials on this. This one was meant to be a white on white but not all high key is that way. I achieved this by clipping the ornament which is white on a sheer curtain letting light come in. Then I played a little in LR and PS to give it even less contrast.
Yes, I'd seen that Jocasta had the same challenge. I really like it that you tried this and felt pushed by someone elses image to get the most out of it! I like the lines of the ornament they pop out, even though it's on white background. Great attempt!
Very creative. I like how you get the background in a bright white. Something that many times found difficult to achieve, even with the help of technology. Great work
This is excellent Joan - i like that the tonal values take a lower register bringing subtlety to this image, which is certainly an excellent example of white on white but not, in my opinion a high-key image. You've met your brief in spades for me...
@vignouse Thank you Richard. I shot this like a high key to try to get some difference between the whites but didn't think it quite qualified. I did a lot of work to try to tone down the grey's in processing. Not a lot of sunshine to use.
@jborrases I never get a chance to read the comments of others. I was just trying to find out what you needed to know because as I said this needed more after processing and I didn't know if this is what you are asking. My reply sounded snappy and that isn't what I mean. So I apologize now that I reread it.
