Something new to me!

I went to work early Wednesday but still stopped to try to get another shot of these hooded mergansers which I first spotted on Tuesday. I have never seen them in #1 pond. I was so excited the were in a small opening and I thought couldn't get away. Ah but I forgot ducks fly! Going down again this weekend to see if we have inhabitants or just passersbys.

These are wonderful looking ducks Joan and, according to what I've just been reading on the 'inter-web', rather different to ordinary duck species. The only ones in Europe are escapees from zoos or wildlife parks, so I've never seen one... that I envy you. Good luck with your next visit to their pond...
