This is another picture I took Sunday morning. You can see one male hooded merganser but what I really wanted to capture was the wonderful golden light in the mill windows and their reflection in the water. I took this at a high ISO so if I look at it in LR at 1:1 ratio the grain is bad. But I worked on it and hope it works. Just not well enough to crop a far away duck. Please let me know if you see the grain a lot or not because my ignorance about this is large. I want to know if I was able to reduce enough noise for you to be able to appreciate the picture.
I noticed no grain at all . My eye was drawn right to that building and the reflection in the water. The duck not so much but you got to love a hooded merganser. Is that also ice on the water ?
It's a beautiful photo with lovely color. I wouldn't have noticed the grain if you hadn't pointed it out first. Really well done. Love the duck and the golden colors.
No grain to mention as posted Joan - you had some wriggle room with the exposure had you needed to reduce the ISO but it's worked out well as is... the building looks to be on fire - nicely observed.
Two things struck me when I first s it before reading your description: the gorgeous golden light on the windows and that I teemed very sharp. So from my perspective your processing worked very well to bring the noise down.
