I was trying to capture birds on the water in the early morning and heard some squawking. These two where on the bath up the road from me. I moved in on them shooting as I went. This is about as close as I dared get to them. That is the male I think on the right and he was loud. I thought it was a smart move to give them a little distance. I think she was interested in eating and well we know what he was interested in. Spring is in the air.
It's fascinating to see that, like my two Mallards, the male stands and watches as the female gets to eat. Don't you sometimes just wonder at the inner mechanisms of animal genetics?! A terrific tale to go with your photo!
Great shot Joan
