When we pulled into a parking lot to take a couple of pictures and eat out bagels we saw this old stove sitting out back of some building. Lot of clutter around it so I used PS to totally blurred the background. Not sure if I like it but too tired to figure out another shot.
@jocasta I over did the blurred back ground. To tired to fix it last night. Long day at work and the drive home. Often what I like in the morning I hate at night. But I am a morning person so usually I post what I played with in the morning.
It's a lovely old rusty stove... a pity that the owner didn't abandon it somewhere more photogenic! A thought - would this have worked in B&W, cluttered background and all?
@vignouse I might play with that later because I like the old stove. I won't post unless I am desperate, but I could see this in a digital scrap page. Hoping to be able to do those this winter. So keep the suggestions coming. After all my real purpose of joining 365 was to improve my photographs to improve my scrap pages. 10 days and I start the journey with my sister back to Florida. We will be traveling along the Blue Ridge. Can't take everything with me, no tripod but hoping to get some wonderful shots.
@vignouse@karlow75 I can take a hint and just opened LR but I can see it will take some work to make the stove pop. Not as easy as just turning to BW. I don't want to play too much this morning. I need to get started on my day. We are going into Portland and I have a doctor appoint (annual check up nothing wrong). But I will keep working on it.
@joansmor Further thoughts - boost the shadows, kill the highlights, boost clarity then partially desaturate and selectively adjust individual colour saturation and brightness to get the 'pop' you're looking for... worth a try, no?
@vignouse Now that works better than the bw. Needs some tuning up but I am getting the pop I wanted. Used a brush on the background to remove as much color as I can from that.
What a great stove- yes, I'd play with it in black and white, and low color- MAYBE even a combo of the two (b/w background, low color sc on the stove? I'd have to see the entire original to know if it'd work). So play with it some more- I think there's a picture in the making here.
@olivetreeann I played with the color sliders and also a brush over the background to make it even whiter and have a nice version I can use for scrapbooking. Richard is my mentor and I listen to his suggestions when I have the time. Been a busy summer with company (my sister).
