Solarization by joansmor

Solarization

@kali66 is my get-pushed partner this week issued this challenge - see you like to play with colour efex occasionally, so my challenge to you is to play with one of the filters you probably haven't had much use for which is solarization. you might like to take a look at the photos of Man Ray who used this technique but with film https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=solarisation+man+ray&client=firefox-b&biw=911&bih=421&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&
So today was busy and no picture time so took yesterday's and ran the filter. Not too bad but not my cup of tea.
ooh i rather like it joan

@kali66 here is my answer to your challenge.

solarisation picks out lovely details and gives a transcendant view of reality, very artistic, , it might grow on you!

Cool processing!

I'm also not familiar with that process, but I find it fascinating! What you'd photographed was not immediately obvious, but a nice study in textures in B&W.

I concur with Louise and ken

This is a fantastic effect.

A good decision to use the previous photo. It provides a clear divide in the treatment and as as kali says it might grow on you.

Go where you have nothing to lose and much to gain.

I've used this technique in the dark room. It was a few years ago now but such a fun experiment. This is so cool. Love the seagull to the right of the posts. Very well done 😊😊

I've found that sometimes a solarised version of the image blended with the original can work well but I don't much care for the effect on it's own.

Nice treatment.

It has possibilities,,, I think I like the input that Richard has given, it would be interesting to see the effect blended with the orginal.

Interesting result Joan.

I'm liking this one. It intrigues me and makes me want to study it more. Nicely shot.

@vignouse me neither but will try your suggestion. But it was an easy push.

@joansmor Yes, give it a try Joan, the Colour image and the B&W solarized one: experiment with the various blending modes but also try simple mixing.
