When you have the paper placed and the picture(s) then you might considering adding elements. The first column is representative of elements that look like real items, The tag would often have a date or place typed on it. The brad might look like it was holding something on the page. The bow adds decoration. All have drop shadows. The bow has a custom drop shadow. I have tried to make it look like the right upper end is popping a little off the paper (not my strong point).
The middle column is the result of a few different types of brushes. First is an artsroke, then a stain brush, then a thread used to make it look like something is sewed onto the page and last a spray with design. All can be used to add color, texture, tension and help draw to the focus. The last column is a couple of transfers. Placed to add color and texture.
I haven't chosen the ones I will use and there are more to choose from. You want to think about them much as you think about a photograph. An item in a photograph helps tell the story, or concentrate focus, add color and you do these on a scrape page. A scrap page is often a storypage.
Your lessons have been quite interesting, Joan - don't always understand all of it, but I can understand what you're heading towards. These would add to the interest of a storypage.
