Evidently, the waves were kicking up a feast for the sandpiper. This picture was taken when we were walking on the beach on Tuesday. A funny thing happened when we were walking close to the edge of the incoming tide. All a sudden Jane noticed it was surging in. Jane yelled tide and I realized what was happening and took a few steps away but this was a big surge and it just kept coming. Watch two older ladies with walking sticks trying to outrun the incoming tide must have been funny. We barely managed to keep dry. Having a "me" day today. Much needed.
I got caught by a big wave last time I was doing this! Still trying to get the salt out of my shoes! I suggest that these are actually plovers??? Previously known as Dotterels. Some of the cutest and favourite little birds.
Had to chuckle as I'm sure there's many of us here who can imagine being caught unawares like you and then scrambling to get out of the way! You got both a nice jog, and a good shot. I hope you enjoyed your "me" day!
