Our old labrador was even more excited than we were to be back at the seaside - running in and out of the sea, chasing rabbits….. Time for a biscuit and a bit of a rest.
Glad to be partnering with you for this week's get pushed. You have a beautiful album. A few days ago, you posted that Michael Kenna is one of your inspirations. Michael Kenna had this to say about night photography: Photographing at night can be fascinating because we lose some of the control over what happens in front of the camera. Over a period of time the world changes; rivers flow, planes fly by, clouds pass and the earth's position relative to the stars is different. This accumulation of time and events, impossible for the human eye to take in, can be recorded on film. For the photographer, real can become surreal, which is exciting. During the day, when most photographs are made, scenes are usually viewed from the vantage-point of a fixed single light source, the sun. At night the light can come from unusual and multiple sources. There can be deep shadows which act as catalysts for our imagination. There is often a sense of drama, a story about to be told, secrets revealed, actors about to enter onto the stage. The night has vast potential for creativity.
So my challenge for you is to capture the light and dark of night as this quote suggests. Hope that works for you. If not, I will come up with something different.
I love that we can see the reflection but not the actual person and the walking sticks make a great shape in the reflection. Very interesting shot and I like it a lot.
@jocasta@nadaa What a great challenge for you Jocasta, I can't wait to see what you come up with, as you know, i want to be Michael Kenna when I grow up!! I love the reflection in this shot BTW.
