get-pushed-98

This week Mary challenged me to "Shoot from an ant's POV and upload SOOC" I was a bit worried about SOOC - it made me think harder about getting the lighting right, the exposure and getting everything spot on in camera. Once again, my thanks to Betty for being such a great model.

Better on black.
@mcsiegle Many thanks for the challenge - I had a lot of fun being an ant down on the floor with Betty. My lens got licked by her quite a lot but then she got bored and went to sleep. Once asleep I had the lens, ant like, just a few centimetres from her nose.

Aw, this is fab. Well captured, was she asleep?

I LOVE IT! It's in my favorites now. This is as close to an ant's point of view as you possibly could get. Mission well accomplished!

Hi. Great response to your challenge. I noticed you'd signed up as part of the mentoring scheme. I wondered if you'd be interested in doing some mutual critique - particularly on lensbaby shots but other ones as well? Nothing very time consuming but just offering critique as part of commenting on shots.

Great shot... you nailed the exposure... I am super lazy at times with getting it "close enough" knowing I can tweak in post but I guess this challenge would really make you think about getting it spot on. Love the composition too! Fav

@rachelwithey Yes, would really like that - especially on lensbaby - although I don't know how good I am at critiquing - but would be great to give it a go. Any suggestions about what we do?

From my point of view I was hoping you could maybe just include some brief critique when you comment on my shots but I'm open to other ideas. Maybe we could start by just offering a few thoughts and suggestions when we view each others shots and then if other ideas spring from that we could give them a go?

Gotta love the high ISO (25K) on the a full frame. good job!

This is really fantastic! I love how closeup you were -- definitely an ant's point of view. A fun shot that I spent some time turning my head this way and that to sort out what I was seeing.

This is a great pov, and answered the challenge so well. Great clarity and detail.

fabulous!

@rachelwithey What you suggest sounds great - although I do wonder how good I am at critique - I know that I love your lensbaby photos and love some of them more than others but I'm not always sure why. There a couple of them that I don't like as much but wonder if I have the skill to tell you about that constructively.
