Black and white coloured pencils!? by johnnyfrs

Black and white coloured pencils!?

photo 96
Trying my creative side again today, as my nephews paid me a visit,I borrowed their colouring pencils.
Even though they are bright colours, the photo just looked better in black and white.

Thank you all for the comments on yesterday's shot, you really are kind.

Wonderful in b&w!! Reminds me of neatly stacked wood for a stove or fireplace! Great symmetry and shades of grey, black and light colors.

Wow - love the detail in the wood. I went to the pencil museum in Keswick and it was strangely fascinating!

What a neat shot. You could have a lot of fun with this photo - I was thinking how interesting it would look if you pasted faces over the pencil leads. Or, perhaps eyeballs or lips.

Super cool shot! If it were in color, I imagine it'd be very bright and happy. But in black and white, I am totally drawn to the textures. I think this is a very creative presentation. Fantastic idea!

Interesting grain and texture. Works well as B & W. Good repeating pattern.

Great textures. Could almost be some fancy wood flooring or a wood stack! Great job.

i love this shot john... i think its because of how it plays with your mind... the first time you look at it you have no idea of perspective so it could be anything, stacked up rounds of wood for instance. and then you read the caption and its pencils and you think, ohh, yeah, shoulda realised that XD great shot and i love the b&w :)

this is fabulous! it's funny when I first saw it in thumbnail I thought "noooooo... not to coloured pencils!" but actually this is a really fab shot! the textures in this are just brilliant, and I think by turning it B&W, you've brought better attention to those textures rather than being distracted by the colours... composition is great too. well done with the PP.
