Soon they will be gone....

The wild sunflowers are at their peak here but this batch might not be here for much longer. The houses that will be taking their place are in the works so less wild open space will be around.
Fabulous!! Love the colors!

@nanderson Thank you for the fav, this open area is in a housing development/construction project near my home. I love being able to walk there but change happens and I need to find new areas.

@graemestevens Thank you, this was a cell shot but I used snapseed to grunge it out.

Mother Nature should have left open bare areas for construction so we would not have to destroy trees and flowers...

Very nice processing!
I know the feeling when a valued place has to give way. Sometimes you want to stop the time...

I had that happen near where I live too. In PHX there are so few empty patches left and I live near a rare patch of open space and would watch some birds that I have never seen elsewhere in the valley eat seeds from the weeds. The birds are gone as the whole swath is now 'luxury' condos. sigh.

dont you hate that! here they keep clearing residential sections of the natural vegetation but noone buys them and they eventually get covered in weeds,

@octogenarian Yes, I agree. We think so short term that we will use up all the natural areas if we aren't careful.
@jerome thank you, the construction people try to keep us out with a fence-ha, we just move it and still go in after they are gone for the day. I don't think that they appreciate us very much.
@blueberry1222 The think about Flag is we have physical limitations for building- mountains, lava beds and such. I still try to enjoy what I can as long as I can.
@kali66 Mother Nature will always win, sometimes she just waits to take back what we 'stole'.

Great shot and processing. Sorrry about the continued march of so called progress. Have a similar situation here. They built up this area a few years ago, but had mercifully left an area around couple of ponds in a natural state. I could walk there and see wild geese, ducks, and blue heron and very occasionally a muskrat or a beaver. Then this year they decided to "prettify" it all and are in the process of putting in a "proper park" with grass and pathways and a playground area with garishly coloured plastic slides etc. GAH!

Sounds like we need more nature oriented people on our city planning boards! Somehow their definition of natural space and mine sure seem to differ. Love your shot and the wonderful natural look to it.

@miata2u Thank you a great deal for the fav. This field is a favorite of mine, they've paved the road around it and next come the new houses- yuck! @gardencat Thank you, why is it that progress usually has a bitter taste? I should just stop and remember that the Grand Canyon is only 80 miles away and go there.
@milaniet Thank you and I completely agree but politics is a very nasty sport. I would like just have long term thinking individuals listened to. The processing is with snapseed app on my phone- fun little thing. @la_photographic Thank you so much, I love these flowers, they are basically just a different colored daisy- my favorite.
@pusspup Thank you so much, I was trying not to get the construction trucks in the shot- they are so big.
@susale I will enjoy them as long as I can in spite of the huge mistake they are making.
