Stymied, stuck, got nothing, so into the archives I fell. This was taken from the passageway above the 9-11 gallery at the Newseum in Washington DC. This is busy but loved the reflections, the poignant remember of that terrible day. I also just noticed a selfie, albeit unintentional.
@cscarr97 Thank you, this museum is a very wonderful place to visit, it has some much recent history and is just down the street from the Capitol. Highly recommend seeing it. There is a charge as its not a gov't sponsored thing- should be but that's another story.
@pickerandagrinner Thank you so very much for the fav. I've been fighting a cough so I haven't been out shooting. This older shot is through the window about the 911 gallery. That is the actual communications tower from the World Trade Center tower. It is a very powerful exhibit.
There's just enough ghostliness in this to be fitting for the site, and great architectural details to make a strong composition. It's always hard to think about what to photograph there (even in DC but referencing NYC), to remain respectful while also capturing the beauty they have built into the tragic site. You've balanced it so well.
@megpicatilly I like this museum a great deal. So many poignant things to see. There is a Pulitzer Photography section which is so powerful, I walked out with tears after seeing them. This 911 memorial is just as amazing and leaves you in awe. I didn't see my selfie until I made this b&w, its only been 5 years.
@ziggy77 Thank you so much, I was worried that it was too busy of a composition.
@taffy Thank you very kindly, I hadn't thought about it from that point but there is so much pain and suffering as well as constitutional rights documented in the museum. A must see for everyone.
@mrforja Very grateful for the fav, thank you. I was worried that there was too much in this shot but very glad that you liked it. If you every get a chance to visit DC, this museum is a must.
So many lines and reflections and shapes and detail to take in... I can imagine it must be quite moving/hard to see the tower structure like that and to remember what happened on that awful day.
@stephanies The mangled tower is so powerful by itself. On the other side, (out of this shot) there is a series of images taken by a photographer who didn't survive the 2nd tower's collapse. His widow donated the images. I had to sit down and cry after I saw them. I wonder when humanity will learn?
@mcsiegle Thank you so very much for the fav. This museum is so needed because it really shows the human connection to history.
