The wild fire in Kendrick Park, my favorite area to shot is still on fire, about 6500 acres so far. It began with a lightening strike on June 1st and is about 16% contained. The good news is the winds have lessened significantly so they can now use back fires to aid in containment. Wild fires are always scary but they are also a persistent issue in this area. I took this south east of town at Mormon Lake looking back towards the the San Francisco Peaks with the smoke bellowing from around Kendrick Peak.
@megpicatilly Thank you a great deal for the fav. I am hopeful that the monsoon rains will come soon and help put the fire out. The fire is in a remote area and thankfully not many homes are near.
@ostrowt Thank you, very grateful for the fav. I've not really explored this area too much, yet.
@maskerade Thank you very kindly for the fav. This intermittent lake still has some water. I will have to go back early next spring to see the migrating birds.
@cjphoto Thank you so much, this fire thankfully not human caused is being used to 'clean up' dead trees from a 17 year old fire.
@pickerandagrinner Fires in this area are an unfortunately a common thing, The rebirth of a forest is both wonderful and sad.
@gardencat Thank you, I am hopeful that letting the fire burn but under supervision is going to rid of the old dead wood from a much older fire.
@brett101 You are so very kind, I am grateful. The IR makes it look somewhat strange.
@domenicododaro Thank you so very much for the fav. The lake is drying up for the season and with the IR it feels other worldly.
You have really upped the drama here ... love the shot but somehow it feels wrong to say that given the devastation. Regenerative in the long term is about as positive as we can say. Fav (if that's OK)
