White Clay Creek by joysabin

White Clay Creek

Another large format negative rescue though its an 8 x 10 negative and its only 15 years old. It is etsooi again but that is inherent with the rescue process. I did 'frame' it in a film strip frame just for kicks.
Nicely processed, works well on black

love the different takes you can make with a negative, depending on how you process them. good to revisit

@graemestevens @kali66 @sugarmuser Thank you all, this is an exercise in frustration control. It seems that most of my 4x5 negs are just a tad too dense for my paltry scanner.

really wonderful!

A lovely location and nice film strip!

have you tried photographing the negative with a dslr and macro lens? if its a RAW file it gives you more processing power, Domenico @domenicododaro and Lou Sousa have been discussing this recently

I love how this feels like an old photo from the turn of the century- the film strip frame just drives home that feeling. Great rescue work!

Amazing. Such depth to the image. Fav.

The amount of detail you can pull out from an 8x10 must be wondrous! Yes, try “scanning” with your camera, all you need is a backlit surface (but you have a light table, don’t you?) and something to hold the negative flat. Big fav for this, even if the film strip is very unfair to the huge negative!

Nice way to enhance this image.

Very cool. a lot for the eye to roam and appreciate in this image

@lsquared Truly grateful for the fav. I dearly miss being able to meander down this trail.

@overalvandaan Thank you so much, very thankful for the fav. I should must made more of an effort to use this large camera more often.

@onewing Thank you so much.

@fbailey Thank you kindly for the fav. Using a large format camera is a young woman's job but I am too stubborn to give up completely.

@kali66 Thank you so much for the idea, I hadn't thought about that before. This is one reason why I just love the photo community, so many wonderful ideas and suggestions- truly grateful.

@olivetreeann Thank you kindly. When I make myself take this camera out, I am reminded how lucky I am to have been introduced to large format photography at school. There are no quick snaps with this.

@eudora Thank you so much, very thankful for the fav. I miss using film but am so lazy anymore. I don't have any chemistry at the moment either.

@domenicododaro Truly thankful for the idea as well as the fav. I will give it a try. I agree about the film strip frame, it was really an insult to sheet film but, there are days when good sense flies out the window....

@bubblequeen It does help to identify it as film but large sheet film doesn't have sprockets.

@jernst1779 Thank you so much for the fav. Usually when I made a large negative, I'd use f64 since I really wanted long DoF.
