Today is the final day of the year's NF-SOOC challenge - (Nifty Fifty Straight Out Of Camera} @vignouse - Thank you Richard so much for hosting this each September.
The lessons that I learn and re-learn each year are very helpful:
1) I've remembered to use filters more often on camera since post edits were not allowed.
2) I also employ an old technique of composition that I first learned in photography class back in 1983. Move my eye to one corner of the viewing frame, then go diagonally across and then up to the next corner and repeat to see if there is anything that I don't want in my shot.
3) Crop with my feet - move in or out, basically forward and backward to double check things
4) Employ the (for my camera) the live view and magnifying tool to check the sharp focus details.
5) Since I try to go B&W all month, to think in contrasts, shadows and textures
Thank you for these reminders, they are great advice, especially when you challenge yourself to not post process. I looked at your month and you have very nice images in B&W and a nice variety.
Well done on completing this month. You've done really well with it and the lessons you've learned and the ones you've repeated are all really important even without the sooc perimeters. Nice leading line here and a lovely invitation to follow the road wherever it leads.
