@cejaanderson@aglennc@tristansmum The truth is, with the rise in 'Net commerce, America's malls are dying off- including Horton Plaza.
A couple of recent trips (I live nearby) of traipsing around the mall has shown me an estimated 40% vacancy rate & many visible signs of unrepaired, obvious decay.
If they would keep it up, it'd remain a real beauty. They do not. Most likely because they cannot afford to.
I was waiting on a pizza from Formaggio; for a mall "food court" surprisingly good East Coast-style pizza. Found myself looking at a view I've probably overlooked a hundred times.
@jrambo001 I remember when the area in and around Horton Plaza was just a place where the homeless and soapbox orators hung out. Before the mall. It's sad to see it going into decay. But you're right.... We see so MANY vacancy signs these days. I'm partly to blame, I guess. I am not a shopper and would rather do it online than go to a mall. I haven't been to our North County Fair Mall here in Escondido for at least two years. Really!
