I see you, pensive in blue light, warmed by the gold of home. The knickknacks of lives, tomes for decor. I see you, among photos of loved ones too long not seen, open windows spilling winter dark capped by uneven, finger-stained pull shades. And you grow, face changing with every season, limbs lengthening, heart learning as much as the hungry mind. You’re a wonder, a dexterous cat before solid footing found, a wise owl before wisdom’s cob webs collect. It’s a blessing to bear witness, a gift to watch your round eyes collect the world in comfort, wonder, glee. I hope you find it all as beautiful as I find you taking it in. I hope you delight as I delight in you.
