Yellow by jtsanto

Yellow

Every color is yellow. “I love you” is pronounced “I wub boo.” His name isn’t Diego, but instead is “Deodo” or just “Dodo.” YouTube, he insists, should be called “Muffin Man.” These are the peculiar language quirks of a stubborn toddler with a wild brain and far more words than he should have. I find it hilarious he can perfectly pronounce the complex word “Motorcycle,” but even with couching still cannot grasp the cat’s name as “Lily” instead of “Zen Zen,” who was our cat that passed on before Diego was even born. On and on it all goes. Yet sometimes yellow does mean yellow, as was the case with this bathtime color experiment. Also, it’s truly disarming to be told, through a broad smile, “I wub boo.” And let’s be real here; Dodo makes for a terrific nickname. If stubborness improves our language, is it still stubborness, or is it evolution?
Very cute! I have a stubborn toddler too :)

I get the sense maybe they are all stubborn. I remember with my first having this sense of understanding about “Stendahl Syndrome,” the idea of people falling in love with their captors. Kids are little tyrants! Yet we love them more and more every day! Haha.
