Ground Beetle by julienne1

Ground Beetle

Came across this little fellow today. He (she?) is a black ground beetle and I know how useful they are in terms of the number of pests they eat - like cutworms, fly maggots, caterpillars, aphids, weevils, slugs, and snails. I could do with more of these in my garden I think! But I left him in situ, busily burrowing into the soft earth by the side of the path.
Wow! Amazing focus.
