Toothache

Another gargoyle from High Ham Church - lots of churches seem to have a version of this in some form, so I reckon toothache was a fairly common misery and stonemasons carved them out of heartfelt sympathy or in painful recollection of first hand experience!
Time has weathered this and makes it look better, the stonemason did a great job and would be proud of his work today.

I love to look at gargoyles in detail! Sometimes they are really funny or even plain inappropriate. There is one on the cathedral in Freiburg here in Germany, that is "turned around" and instead of spitting water at the people below, he does something completely different. Sometimes I think the architect had all the fun with them! Nice find this one!
