Geometer Moth caterpillar

These caterpillars are also known in some places as "inchworms" or "loopers" ibecause of their characteristic mode of movement. They have three pairs of true legs at the front and two pairs of prolegs at the back, and because they have nothing in the middle they move in a looping fashion with the rear catching up with the front and then stretching the head section forward. They will also hang on to a branch with the rear and stretch out their heads into the air so that they look just like a twig to fool predators. This one was about 2 inches long. The strange thing is that it reminds me of a walrus!
