Iris foetidissima seeds by julienne1

Iris foetidissima seeds

This is the UK's only native iris. I love the way its disproportionately large seed pods burst open exuberantly to reveal the startling orange seeds inside. In the spring the flower is really very subdued for an iris and easily overlooked - but not so these berries!

The seeds really are eyecatching!
