At our local heronry in Swell Wood at Fivehead many nests now have heron chicks. It's difficult to get photos as the nests are around 70 feet high in the oak trees which now have leaves that obscure the nests. This nest has three chicks and every so often there is a tremendous commotion when one of the parents arrives and all the chicks try to nab some regurgitated fish at the same time..
Great capture. There's a section of woods by my house that I know they are roosting in, but you just can't get to them to see them. A lot has to do with all of the leaves. But you can hear them out there for sure, and sounds like the same kind of commotion that you are hearing.
