Brimstone Gonepteryx rhamni

I like the green fluffy beard on this handsome butterfly. The appearance of a number of these butterflies in August is because they will be the newly hatched offspring of eggs laid by the Spring adults. Provided the winter isn't too harsh they may survive until next Spring.
