This is a cattle egret on the Somerset Levels. These are still rare in the UK. The first pair bred here in 2008 but in the last couple of years there have been steadily increasing numbers. They are usually found in much warmer climates but seem to have decided that the UK has much to offer! I am seeing them across the moors feeding amongst the cattle for worms and other invertebrates that the cattle disturb.
Is that cow wearing a mask to preserve his anonymity.....:)

We get a lot of cattle egret here. This one looks as though he is saying 'go on, walk I want to eat'
