The Celandines are coming into their own with a bit of welcome sunshine. Celandine Day was almost a month ago on 21st February but they are only just coming out in force.
They are said to be Wordsworth's favourite wildflower and wrote a poem about them ...
There is a Flower, the Lesser Celandine,
That shrinks, like many more, from cold and rain;
And, the first moment that the sun may shine,
Bright as the sun himself, 'tis out again!
