Waisted Bee-grabber

When I saw this I though it was a species of wasp, but after consulting the experts I now realise it's a type of Conopid fly - Physocephala rufipes - which is a bee parasite! It grabs bumblebees and lays eggs inside where the larvae hatch and feed on the bee.
Great shot and interesting text.

Great capture. My first thought was that it was some kind of wasp. Interesting.
