Polo Crosse...

Dianne @dide and I went to nearby Karaka to watch the National Polo Crosse Champs.. Neither of us knew anything about this sport but thought it would be good to photograph.. armed with chairs, drink and fruit we had a very enjoyable day.. Lucky we had some Grandparent's of one of the riders sitting nearby so they could explain the game to us.. 6 horse's and riders per side only 3 on at a time.. Only # 1 can score a goal #2 only allowed in the centre .. # 3 defends #1.. carry ball in racket but it has to touch the ground in goal 3rd.. make sense .... play 4x10 mins... This is the junior finals.. Riders being under 16.. Blue, Central Plateau won 10- Waikato 3 ..

@eyesmile This is quite different than regular Polo use racquets not sticks so catch the ball not hit it.. great to watch..

Its not the same as ordinary Polo obviously with those nets! Don't really know about it at all! These guys must be good riders!

Fantastic shot. That's a wild tough game. Like polo but you must catch or throw the ball. Mix of polo and lacrosse. Played it briefly in the 1950s
