Manukau Bar ...

Busy day so one from the archives.. Manukau Bar looking from the lighthouse ( from last Sunday) is the sight on New Zealands worst Maritime disaster.. The HMS Orpheus was wrecked here in 1863 with the loss of life of 189 crewmen.. Today local fisherman treat it with a lot of respect and do not attempt to cross if the weather is not right..

@maggiemae Have seen it on TV at some stage.. I guess not on that particular one as not many witness' to that story..

What a fantastic view. It looks quite peaceful at the moment. The ocean can be very tricky sometimes can't it.
