The girls ( Grand daughter's) have had a very busy weekend work with their calves .. Next month their School is holding the Annul Calf Club day.. It is a bit of an institution in small country schools in New Zealand .. where the children raise a young farm animal .. calf, lamb, goat or chicken and then bring it along on the day to put it through it's paces along with all the other children .. They have to lead them around a set course and show that they have cared for them with having no loose hairs.. and be able to tell the judge a bit about their pet.. This is Abby with her calf Diamond .. she is a Holstein Friesian and is very well loved..
Her sister's calf will be in my other album..
I feel deprived, not being born in NZ. I would have loved calf club at school. Nearest thing I got was bringing home the class Guinea pig in the holidays. Great pic
Another great shot of two great friends! I love 4-H for kids. My girls were in it and it is such a character building organization. Really teaches them responsibility.
I always think this is a great idea, Max loved taking his lamb in last year. Abbey looks like she has looked after her calf very well, it's obviously very at ease with her.
