This afternoon I was thinking I would have to get a shot from the files as I have spent the day not too far from the fire... I have Asthma and a touch of Bronchitis at the moment so looking after myself .. I was about to pull the blinds for the afternoon when he is Farmer George slogging away outside in the rain..
He is shifting the electric fence after he has taken the newly calved cows to the milking shed for the night milk and then they will have a fresh strip of grass to produce more milk for tomorrow..
One of the most important bit of equipment is good sturdy 'Wet weather' gear.. as the last thing you want is to get wet and cold while out in all weather.. So think about Farmer George when you put your milk on your cereal and the butter on your toast .. They are a very dedicated breed...
This is a wonderful image Julia, farming is a tough life. My family are sheep farmers, but in a very dry part of SA. they would not see this often. Sorry to hear about your health issues and hope you are feeling better soon :-)
@ludwigsdiana Thanks Diana pretty much an annual event this time of year ... just got to wait it out and catch up on some computer work.. wish we could share some of our rain with you ..
Asthma and bronchitis are bad enough alone, I’m so sorry you have them both at the same time. Please do thank George, his work is more important than people realize. I just had a conversation with my grandaughter and her friend about the importance of farmers. We also talked about big trucks that deliver the dairy and food to our stores. (A big milk truck had wrecked and a major Dallas freeway was closed for hours).
It looks like it did here a few days ago. Luckily the sun has been shining for the last couple of days.
Stay warm and cosy Julia. A friend of mine is having a hard time with asthma attacks at the moment. Must be something in the air. Damp cold weather probably doesn't help. Take care
I have to agree with you about farmers. They truly are a breed apart. Not many people would do what they do every day - and dealing with a fluctuating market where you never know how much you will be paid at the same time.
Great to see him hard at work!
Hope you are feeling better soon.
Here here Julz! Well said, no one understands the relentless slog in all weathers, every day even if you're ill! Fave for that! I seem to think he's looking enviously your way & thinking of that fire & a cup of tea!
Hope you're feeling better soon, that weather is not helping but hope it passes soon.
