Chatham Island For-get-me-not...

Or.. Myosotidium Hortensium.. Kopakopa..
Is flowering.. I get quite excited when it flowers every year, as very few gardeners have success in growing this stunning plant, but the spot I have it must suit it well, as it has done well this year.
This plant is in a threatened status in its natural enviroment of the Chatham Islands ( South East of NZ) It grows on Coastal Cliffs rocky outcrops and sandy beaches. And last year I was lucky enough to see it's natural state while visiting the Chathams.
The plant grows up to 1 - 1.5 metres in diameter and the leaves are around 40 -50 cm and the flower head would be around 20-30 cm..
Beautiful. Nick bought me one of these when we first moved into this house. Sorry to say I killed it! Or the alpacas ate it

@yorkshirekiwi I don't think it would survive a chomping from an Alpaca... They like a dry exposed and not much sun .. the sort of spot that nothing else would grow..

must have been amazing to see them in their natural setting, but were they flowering?

@kali66 yes they were.. Our trip was timed for the flowering.. the first few we saw were a bit manky but lucky we saw some better ones later in the trip.. They grow on the beach and lots were lost in king tides a few years ago..

I know this is such a beautiful huge forget-me-not. I had planted one in a shady place and the ruddy lawnmowers went in and decimated it! It cost NZ$14 so I wanted it to grow! Well - good to see this great shot!
