... Rhaphiolepis Indica.. My Indian Hawthorn bush is looking lovely at the moment so thought it deserved a shot. These lovely pink flowers (I have a white one as well) are followed by a black berry which I believe can be used for dying ( as in cloth not your hair or you enemy) and producers a deep purple shade.
It’s beautiful, I’ve always loved that shrub. Our deep freeze last February killed most of the Indian Hawthornes in our area. I still see many dead ones in landscaping here.
I didn't know the berries were good for dying fabric. My Indian Hawthorne was looking amazing, and then suddenly we have had a few stinking hot days and many of the flowers are drying up in spite of my putting loads of water on it.
