This is a Manuka shrub of which comes Manuka Honey (via the bee's) and Manuka oil.. two products that are sort after in New Zealand giving great medicinal healing.. and also very tasty honey. Usually the Manuka is white but there are many ornamental ones as well..
A terrific macro image. We have just planted a pink and a red Manuka. I don't seem to have much luck getting the coloured ones to grow, so fingers crossed for good results this time. Fav
I have seen the Manuka trees lots of times of course but never seen them in flower! No wonder the honey is so sort after these are beautiful flowers on a very original tree! I dint think we have manuka trees…must Google! If they are flowering now I won’t have seen them…. Makes me think our summer is slipping away!
@happypat Leptospermum is the botanical name.. there are low growing ones as well which are great in smaller gardens..
Just Google and they grow in Cornwall and in sheltered warm spots in other counties .. so be interested if you could get it.. the bees would love you.
