Called into the local Vintage Railway again today ( check yesterday's photo in this album) as they were having a special ceremony to mark 100 years since the commencement of WW1. Had a extra engine visiting from Wellington that was named in memory of the bloody battle of Passchendaele, .. The regular GVR train is to the right of this image and the visiting train is coming towards us after taking several carriages loaded with sightseers..to our nearby township..
Very nicely presented - I had a quick look at the train today too, although our timing wasn't quite right to get a decent shot of the Passchendaele train. You have done a great job presenting the trains - fav.
My husband and grandson would love to visit here. Must put it on the list next time our grandson is here.
David used to visit Glenbrook quite a lot when he was in the RAAF.
@onewing Babs this is in NZ.. I just googled Glenbrook Aus and they have a similar looking station but can not guarantee that is has a vintage train there... but if you do want to pop over to NZ with your Grandson let me know and I will meet you for a coffee... The Vintage Railway is a great asset to the area and the volunteers do a fantastic job..
@julzmaioro Of course, ha ha. I had a senior moment and forgot you were in NZ. Next time we are in NZ we will definitely check it out.
We have just had a couple of days in Sydney and my brain is a fog. So much traffic in the city and we are not used to it where I live.
@onewing Yes I know what you mean about city traffic.. The vintage railway is open from labour weekend (nz end oct) till about Easter.. just on Sunday's as a rule but by arrangement other times..
