Nikau Palm...

Another shot of our beautiful Nikau Palm.. It is the only palm that is endemic to New Zealand. It was used by the Maori's for wrapping food in for cooking, making mats and baskets and thatch for buildings. And parts of the leaves were eaten..
I love the way it has a 'thatched look' when looking up into the branches..
